‘Game Of Thrones: Season Six’ Preview

One of the hottest TV shows of the 21st century makes its long-awaited return on 24 April when HBO finally unveils the sixth series of Game of Thrones.

This fantasy epic started life as a series of cult books before branching out into television series, online games and even cosplay events that see fans living out their dreams of being characters with unwieldy names such as Daenerys Targaryen and Joffrey Baratheon.

The end of season five left us with a bit of a cliffhanger as everybody’s favourite character, Jon Snow, was left bloody, bruised and seemingly dead in snowdrift. But with some interesting leaks regarding the resurgence of the House Stark, it seems that all may not be lost in this epic fight between good and evil.

What’s all the more frustrating for Game of Thrones fans is that they used to be able to read ahead of the TV show by researching the complex plot in author George R. R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire books. But with Martin’s forthcoming Winds of Winter book possibly delayed until 2017, it’s left HBO with no option but to forge ahead with their own television adaptations – albeit under the auspices of the series creator.

The Game of Thrones universe is thankfully so large that there’s always a little fantasy entertainment for even the most ardent fan. As well as the celebrated Telltales Games release of 2014, this year has also seen the series receive its first virtual reality 360° version of the opening titles. Plus 32Red Casino have also provided fans with the Game of Thrones slots game that features all of the drama of Westeros with some mobile-friendly payouts to keep gamers entertained until season six finally lands.

As well as the wide range of gaming titles, there are also the constant rumours circulating that Game of Thrones will soon be enjoying its first cinematic outing. The fact that Charles Dance, who plays Tywin Lannister, has said that there’s the distinct possibility of a Game of Thrones movie will undoubtedly appease many fans who’ll relish the chance of seeing their heroes on the big screen.

The complex plots and rich web of characters could deliver a movie that heads back into the past of the saga, perhaps focusing on some marginal characters in a whole new light. And with the recently-unveiled trailer hinting at more blood and warfare, it looks like there’ll be no letting up in the drama of this gripping fantasy series.
