DVD Review: ‘Tom Holland’s Twisted Tales’

Are you familiar with the name Tom Holland? Those who are well acquainted with horror films know him. The rest of us? He’s only responsible for the original “Fright Night” and the doll-fear inducing gem “Child’s Play”. Tack on three episodes of “Tales from the Crypt”, adaptations of Stephen King’s “Thinner” and “The Langoliers”, as well as the soon-to-be-in-production “The Ten O’Clock” People”, and that is one hell of a resume. Holland is taking the reins on a new series of horror shorts on FEARnet (It’s all horror, all the time!) called “Tom Holland’s Twisted Tales”, and they are genius. All nine episodes available on the DVD are introduced by Holland and star a plethora of Hollow horror heavyweights: Danielle Harris (who was in “Halloween” 4 and 5, as well as the reboot by Rob Zombie) and William Forsythe make a deal in “To Hell With You”. Ray Wise, oh I love him as a bad guy! He’s in an episode called “Mongo’s Magic Mirror” that is just spectacular. There are a few that I wasn’t absolutely in love with, but they are few and far between. The DVD includes nine episodes and some behind the scenes featurettes that give some insight to the terrible genius that is Tom Holland.

“Tom Holland’s Twisted Tales” is now available on DVD.
