DVD Review: ‘Odd Thomas’

Odd Thomas is his real name and he sees dead people. “I see dead people, but then, by God, I do something about it”. No this is not ‘The Sixth Sense.’ The movie is based on a novel by Dean Koontz.

Odd (Anton Yelchin Chekov from Star Trek movies) lives in Pico Mundo, California. He’s a short order cook and on occasion sees dead people. He works with a cop Wyatt Porter (Willem Dafoe) in catching the suspects. Sometimes he takes things into his own hands. The dead come to him, don’t talk to him and are able to cross over once justice has been served. Odd also has a girlfriend Stormy Llewellyn (Addison Timlin).

He starts getting weird visions of evil things, like faceless people getting gunned down and isn’t sure what to make of them. He knows something bad is about to happen, that hell on earth is coming and it’s up to him to stop it.

Odd Thomas is a fun thrill ride of good vs. evil. The special effects are really good and Anton Yelchin does a good job of carrying the movie.

You can pick it up in stores on Tuesday, March 25.
