“Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.”

Season two of Animal Kingdom found a full divide between the boys and Smurf (Ellen Barkin). They have had it with her controlling ways and not sharing of the money. So they decide to go out on their own. The only one that stays somewhat loyal to her is Cody (Finn Cole). There’s also the question of what happened to Cath. Meanwhile Deran (Jake Weary) is trying to get his bar up and going and be legit.

As the season goes on the boys do some jobs and it becomes increasingly difficult to work with each other. Smurf also has changed the locks and codes on the loot she has stores up. Her past (we learn a bit of her backstory) also comes back to haunt her and it sets her up by the end of the season, to land her in jail, thanks to Baz (Scott Speedman).

It was another intense season of trying to one up each other while staying ahead of the law and each other. As the next season approaches the questions to ask are how will Smurf free herself from jail and will the boys keep doing jobs and stayed estranged from each other.

You can pick up Animal Kingdom: The Complete Second Season on DVD Tuesday, February 13.
