Eve and Charlotte (known as Charlie) are a couple who have been together a long time and have bought an old, broken-down house in the Portland, Oregon area. They’re remodeling or will raise the house, and then sell it off, it has a lot of land and is in a remote area. On this Friday night, Eve is home alone, waiting for Charlie, and they plan a quiet night together at home when there’s a knock at the door. Eve finds a man named Thomas and his family at the door, and he tells her he grew up in the house and was wondering if he could show it to his family. Eve doesn’t want to but lets them in, and then everything changes. A snowstorm hits, and the family stays over, a child goes missing, a window is different, strange people appear, and Charlie then goes missing. Eve is wondering if she’s losing her mind when she gets a call telling her to run, and finds a cryptic message telling her nothing is as it seems and to play along until the time is right, even as Eve seems to be losing all touch with reality, or is she? This is a creepy, eerie, psychological thriller, that starts strong, and never lets up. Fans of these kinds of novels will love this, and it’s soon to be a Netflix movie with Blake Lively.
