Book Review: ‘The Ex-Husband: A Novel’ By Karen Hamilton

A suspensful novel from the very beginning to the climatic ending takes the reader on a ride. Using the then and now format we learn about the characters and situations so all questions are answered with some well placed twists and turns. Charlotte and Sam were a couple that fell in love on a cruise ship (he was a blackjack dealer) and he convinced her to get a job as well and they worked various cruise ships. He also was a thief and got her to work as his accomplice. They pulled a lot of jobs over the years until it became to much for Charlotte. Now two years later she is working legit and has built a business. She hardly hears from Sam and now he has vanished. Charlotte gets an offer to be a personal assistant on a private cruise for a couple getting married and she takes the job. She is also getting messages from someone that knows about her past and wants money. She figures the cruise will be safe for her. She soon learns it’s not. She gets more mesaages from someone on the cruise and things keep happening to her. Then she learns the shocking truth about who has been after her and she may not make it to the end of the cruise.
