Where back to the island of Nantucket for a summer like no other. Police Chief Ed Kapenash is finally ready to retire, after some health issues. His daughter comes home with a broken heart for the summer, and runs into Coco, who has been hired by a rich couple, Bull and Leslie Richardson, who have bought a home on the island, for 22 million dollars. They take the island by storm, throwing crazy parties, eating at all the hot spots, and throwing their money around. Not everyone likes them, Leslie tries too hard to be the Queen prima donna of the island and turns people against her. Toward the end of August, their house burns down, and Coco has gone missing at sea. The novel starts out with the fire and then goes back to the beginning of the summer, and alternates between the two. It’s another fun, soapy, delicious Nantucket novel, that only Elin can write. It’s the 30th and final novel in this series, and maybe one day she will go back and write another. All these novels are great and this is a perfect summer read.
