Man On Edge is an exciting spy thriller written by Humphrey Hawksley, and is the second in the author’s Rake Ozenna series.

This book is fast-paced and kept me glued to its pages, anxious to know what and who Rake was up against next. Rake is smart, sharp, and definitely someone you want on your side. While Rake is the central character of this story, his fiancé, Carrie Walker is an integral part, as it’s her uncle who leads her to Moscow where she finds herself in possession of valuable information. The story is told from multiple perspectives, as Rake and Carrie try to unravel the mystery. As a reader, I enjoyed seeing the story told from different angles. It added to the mystery and the never-ending twists. There is a little bit of a politics, diplomacy, and military elements, that also enriched the story.

The book makes a lot of references to the first Rake Ozenna story, Man On Ice, and having never read that book, it did take me a bit longer to piece some things together. That said, it did not take away from my enjoyment of this book.

If you are looking for a modern-day spy thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end, then I highly recommend Man On Edge.
