Book Review: ‘It’s Hot In The Hamptons’ Is A Great, Fun, Soapy Summer Ready

If you’re a fan of TV shows like Dynasty, Dallas, Knots Landing and General Hospital you will love the new book It’s Not Hot In The Hamptons. It’s a soap opera type story set mostly in the Hamptons (some of the story is in Manhattan as well) during one summer with the rich and high society people.

Caroline and Eddie are married. Annabelle and Arthur are married. Both couples are wealthy. Caroline and Annabelle have been best friends for years. They have children and on the surface are both happily married. That is all show for the real world. Each loves their husbands but they also know the realities of them. They cheat on each. But they provide for their families.

This summer Annabelle decides that they should cheat. Have one meaningless affair each for the hell of it to see what it is like. Caroline isn’t sure. But then she sees that Eddie is up to his old ways. They each find the right man and the affairs begin. They also have to deal with hiding them and feeling somewhat guilty.

So much else happens over this summer. In true soap fashion there is a person back from the dead, an illegitimate child, a sting operation involving drugs close to one main character, steamy sex, affairs exposed and cattiness between the rich society people. All in all it’s a summer in the Hamptons.

This is a really fun book. A perfect summer read! You can pick it up in stores on Tuesday, May 21st from William Morrow.
