Mallory Dunne has a 13-year-old son who needs a kidney after eating a poisonous mushroom. It’s been 3 years since that happened and one has not turned up yet. Mallory’s sister, Paige, suggests she contact Monk, the boy’s father, who she was in love with 13 years ago until something happened, and she walked away and never told him about Sam. She reconnects with Monk, learns about Sam and hopes to become the father he should have been and may even have a second chance at love. In 1951, in Cairo, Hannah starts an affair with a hotel manager named Lucien and becomes pregnant with his child, and her husband forces her to give up the baby. Unknown to both of them, their lives are connected and after a DNA test, Mallory and Paige learn how. Another great character-driven novel, with twists and turns, as only Beatriz can write. She has never written a bad novel and this is another winner.
