Book Review: ‘Goodnight Beautiful: A Novel’ By Aimee Molloy

Author Aimee Molloy follows up last year’s awesome novel The Perfect Mother with another twisty story Goodnight Beautiful, set in upstate New York. It’s a page-turning story that will keep you on the edge of your seat with so many twists and turns it’s hard to write a synopsis without giving away spoilers.

Dr. Sam Statler, a therapist and his teacher wife Annie Potter weren’t together long before they got married and moved back to Sam’s home town, where his mother is a home and he wants to be close to her. Annie spends lots of time alone while Sam works downstairs in his home office. While cleaning out an upstairs room it’s discovered that through a vent everything in Sam’s office can be heard.

When Sam gets a new French speaking female client things may go wrong. She flirts with him and then texts him she wants to meet up the next night. He agrees and when he leaves there is a massive storm and everyone is told to stay off the roads. Then Sam disappears and Annie cannot find him anywhere nor can the police.

At this point I can’t say much more because it would be spoilers. Lets just say everything is not as it seems and it seems a bit confusing when reading but stick with it as everything will make sense.

You can pick up Goodnight Beautiful in stores on Tuesday, October 13th from Harper.
