This is the book where we finally learn a little bit more about Marcus, and I am surprised at what we and Andy learn (in a good way). Andy just wants to be retired and not have to take on new clients, but it doesn’t work out for him. Marcus comes to the Tara Foundation, a dog rescue organization, with two young men, that he has taken under his wing. Seems Marcus helps out those not as fortunate as him all the time. They’re looking to adopt a dog. One of them Nick Williams works for one of those law firms that promises to help you in your in a legal bind, the kind of ads that run on TV all the time. There’s a shootout at the firm, and six people are killed, and Nick, who didn’t show up for work that day, is the prime suspect, and Marcus asks Andy to defend him. The team is put together to try and find evidence to free him, and it’s not easy. Andy has opened up a Pandora’s box, and people are not happy about it, more dead bodies turn up, and things are not looking good for Andy and Nick, who’s going to have to pull a rabbit out of a hat to save him. This is another great novel in the series, and I love the character reveal about Marcus, who is one of my favorite characters in all books. The rest of the supporting crew is just as fun, and fans of the series will be happy with this one.
