The sequel to last year’s Arctic Storm Rising is fantastic. Nobody writes military action books like Dale Brown. So much happens and you are kept on the seat of your pants, wondering how it will all turn out. Nick Flynn is working for a secret group known as Quartet Directorate aka The Four. He’s in Austria to meet an informant on a ski slope and then the man is shot dead and the bad guys are after Nick. Thanks to his fellow agent Laura Van Horn, he’s able to escape and return to America. They soon learn of a devious plot by the Russians, with aid from Iran, of a secret ship being built, with a massive bomb onboard and it’s heading for America, as operation Midnight. Nick forms a plan to stop it or die trying, in a climatic fight to the death. It doesn’t get much better than this and the last part of the novel might be the best action sequence in a book all year.
You can pick up Countdown To Midnight in stores now from William Morrow.
