The first book in the series The Windsor Knot was one of favorite books in 2021. Now author SJ Bennett is back with the second novel and it’s just as good or even better than the first one. The story centers around Queen Elizabeth in 2016, a fierce election is going on in the United States, Brexit is taking place, a new Prime Minister in England, one of her prized dogs has died and a murder has taken place in the palace. Elizabeth is on top of it and she and her trusted assistant Rozie are secretly leading the investigation. Elizabeth also notices a prized painting has been seen at the Ministry of Defense, Elizabeth hasn’t seen it since 1986. So Rozie is also looking into this. It turns out there have been a band of people in high positions that have been taking things over the years and selling them. Then another murder takes place and Rozie and Elizabeth start to put certain things together and are ready to solve the case. The book follows Elizabeth as the Queen and leader that she is but also shows a fun side to her, something we would never see and these two books are so entertaining and fun. This book is written as a stand-alone, so no worries if you didn’t read the first one. I highly recommend reading it and look forward to more books in the series.
