I’ve watched a lot of weird movies in my lifetime, but I have to say, “Nurse 3D” has to be one of the craziest. Starring Paz de la Huerta (“Boardwalk Empire”), the film starts off with Abby (de la Huerta) explaining via narrative that she was put on this planet to murder cheating men in an effort to “keep scum off the streets”. Abby is a nurse, which seems to make her “work” more enjoyable for her. Abby has also been mentoring a budding nurse named Danni (Katrina Bowden), and after Danni is berated by the head doctor on shift (Judd Nelson), Abby decides that she has to continue keeping Danni under her wing. It doesn’t go over so well after Danni instead turns to her boyfriend Steve (Corbin Bleu) instead of Abby. Although the couple are tight, they have a fight. Danni decides to hit up a club with Abby and gets her drink spiked- Abby wants her, and wants her bad. After a drunken and drugged threeway, Danni starts to realize how crazy Abby is. The movie then begins to take a “Fatal Attraction” type turn, with Abby trying everything in the book to get Danni to come back to her. This attempt is further stymied when the hospital’s new HR representative Rachel Adams (Melanie Scrofano) thinks that Abby looks a lot like a childhood friend who was sent to a mental institution as a child. It can only get better from here, right? Paz de la Huerta was certainly able to channel the psychotic nature of Abby in this role, and it makes for a good film.
“Nurse 3D” comes with both a 3D and 2D edition, as well as some special features. It is currently available on Blu-ray.
