Blu-ray Review: ‘Batman: Return Of The Caped Crusaders’

Review by Bluray Junkies

2016 has been a busy year for Batman between Batman V Superman, Suicide Squad and the anticipated and pretty bad attempt at The Killing Joke and with each having the same problem with viewers having overly dark tones. Well never fear Batman fans Warner Bros has come to the rescue giving us a real treat with their newest Batman animated movie entitled Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders. This is a throw back to the campy 1960’s live action television show and it’s a most welcomed refreshing take on Batman. Warner Bros also topped it off by bringing back the original Batman and Robin, Adam West and Burt Ward to voice the caped crusaders and its nothing but fantastic. This is such a breath of fresh air, yes its campy, yes it has multiple silly one liners, yes it has over the top characters and scenes but thats what makes it so great!

The plot revolves around Batman and Robin taking down their friendly foes from The Joker to Catwoman also voiced by the original actress Julie Newmar. And that’s it, there’s no overly convoluted plot where you feel like you have to be a physicist to understand it. It’s just a laid back, extremely fun, extremely entertaining Batman animated movie that knows what it is and just runs with it and it’s a blast.

Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders is a nice change of pace and it completely works. You don’t have to be a fan of the original live action show to understand and enjoy this. If you grew up with the original show, it’s a nice nostalgic throwback, that’ll put a smile on your face from start to finish.

Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders is a welcomed treat to the Batman animated franchise, do not miss this one.
