Blu-ray Review: ‘Aliens: 30th Anniversary Edition’

I was 15 years old when I saw the Alien and to this day remember having the crap scared out of me when the alien popped out of the stomach. Alien ended up being a bit hit and it took seven years for Aliens to come out and it was well worth it. Normally sequels are not that good. There’s the rare occasion and this time it was as good or better than the original. And how could it not? With James Cameron at the helm along with his then wife Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead). It was nominated for seven Oscars and won 8 Saturn Awards and grossed over $180 million (a lot in those days).

It’s been 57 years and Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) arrives home and no one believes her story about the Aliens. She’s placed on leave for a year. The exomoon is now home to a colony that is mining. When communication is lost with them, an expedition is sent with Ripley being asked to join. When they arrive they find nothing but a scared girl name Newt (who has been hiding out). Of course you know what happens next. They find the colonists cocooned for the Aliens. When one is killed it awakens them and the game is on to kill or be killed by them. It all comes down to a dramatic conclusion with Ripley (and it is AWESOME).

As I said earlier this is as good or better than the original. And has lots of cool extras you can see below. It’s available in stores now.
