I had a gastric and I have to deal with all the extra skin. It is causing so much pain in my body.
Can’t wait to see this show. I used to be over 800 lbs. And have lost 400 lbs. So far. But I’m drowning in my own extra skin…and I hope these stories can help me to deal with the horror of stomach skin that goes to my knee.
I hate these shows they NEVER,give the viewer an opportunity to be on their show. I also have probably 30 pounds of excess skin from losing 222 pounds five years ago I’ll never wear shorts or a bathing suit. But these guys somehow deserve the surgery and I don’t. . Come on….that’s rotten, they should at minimum give it to at least 1 viewer a month.. .we are ALL SO DESPERATELY searching for ways to pay for surgery for skin removal that should be included with any weight loss surgery, but TLC found a way to rub our noses in our pain and leave us once again pining away for something else offered by society. It stinks to be so bitter but 1000’s of people deal with issue and now Instead of getting the insurance companies to cover the removal, TLC has encouraged us to wish and dream….with nothing for us
Ginger, I agree wholeheartedly. My son had weight loss surgery and loss about 300lbs. He now is left with so much extra skin that it is affecting his life negatively and I worry. Excess skin removal should be a part of the process and covered by insurance.
Sincerely,
A Concerned Mom.
His insurance can cover. Tell him to say it’s causing health issues. Like skin rashes skin splitting cracking open causing him pain. If it smells. All those are medical issues. He has to start going to his Dr to complain start a history.
Ginger
I so like the notion of giving say one surgery a month. We should start a Facebook campaign targeting plastic surgeons to do just that; especially since we the patients give them so much Bussiness.
Thank you for the insightful post.

I AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT GIVING US A CHANCE TO GET ON THE SHOW. I AM DISABLE AND HAVE MEDICAID AND MEDICARE BUT THEY STILL WANT PAY FOR ME TO HAVE THE SKIN REMOVAL. I HATE MY ARMS AND I DON’T HAVE MUCH BREAST LEFT. . I HAVE LOSS 140 POUNDS. BUT WHEN I LOOK AT MY BODY WITH OUT CLOTHES I HATE IT. I LOOKED BETTER WEIGHING 290.
Omg…I so agree! I had ruin Y gastric bypass surgery in 2001 and I lost 145 pounds. Basically I have kept it off I know you a few years ago but I’m back down to my lowest weight that I’ve been. And my skin is out of control and I single and divorced and trust me it causes a lot of issues even though people say it doesn’t bother them but in the long run you hear things back and forth in you know if I don’t like to look at it I know nobody else wants to. It’s embarrassing and I feel like I’m trapped in my skin I mean I might as well be fat again. And breaks my heart is kind of ruined my life. And I’m at my wits end, I don’t have the money for skin surgery. I know there’s worse things in life and people have a lot more going on with cancer and stuff like that but it really is debilitating. I feel your pain.
Agree I have written in since it started. So i went ahead and followed Dr. Now and f/u show chris powell faithful for a years and 4 months now. But, they never address what do we do with the skin after. Because thats the only thing i cant deal with on my own. Meet every goal , followed the doet. Showed thecwill wothout bypass , or any type of surgery. Sheer will power.
I have had Gastric bypass lost 160 lbs. I would love to feel better about my self. In my stomach area I continues to get yeast infections. No I have not lost like other’s I only weight in at 311 lbs at my highest. My body is not perfect but I want o look in the mirror and like what I see not think wow I am still fat.
I agree with Ginger. I have a dear friend that also deals with excess skin after losing well over 100 pounds. He is a teacher, husband and father of two, young and vital. He has done it through exercise and diet and a great deal of sweat and tears. He’s worked so incredibly hard but still has all the loose skin to deal with. His insurance will not cover surgery. He has tried. He now has minimal health problems, unlike before. So insurance company now has many less claims to pay out because he’s so much healthier! But yet they refuse to pay for removal surgery?? It makes me sad for him after the two years of grueling work he’s spent in the gym and changing his eating habits.
Wow this is TRUE SO TRUE. things they say is exactly how I feel. I so wish I could have my skin removed. I would love to enjoy the touch of my Husband, kids and Loved ones. People don’t understand how I could of liked my Fat body better then this body. But I do!!!! So happy for them.
Yes, Yes. Yes. It is so true. My body is so ugly and I am so ashamed of it. I told my friend that I hate my body from my breastfeeding on down to my thigh. All of the loose hanging skin. I went from a 12 to a three I less than a year.I had chronic bowel movements syndrome but the really didn’t find out what cause it. But it might of been because I had a bypass years ago. I pray that I could get all the loose skin. I would have to win a lottery to have it done because it
cost to much money. I guess I will carry it to my grave.
