Movie Review: ‘Trespass Against Us’

Review by Caitlin Zeigler

Chad Cutler (Michael Fassbender) has always lived under his father’s thumb. He didn’t finish school, he steals to take care of his family, and he gets into it with the police, etc. He was okay with everything, but he has a family now and doesn’t want them to live the life he’s still living. His wife, Kelly Cutler (Lyndsey Marshal), is always telling him that they need to move and get their children out of that lifestyle.

His father, Colby Cutler (Brendan Gleeson), is always in his ear telling him about how he needs to stick with his family and do another “job”. P.C. Lovage (Rory Kinnear) is the cop always catching him and letting him know that it’s only a matter of time before he goes down for a crime. Chad has never been charged with a crime, but he also realizes that he’s living on borrowed time, unless he can get him and his family out and move on.

This film is shot well, has a great cast and great acting. The plot is simple and it ends exactly how one thinks it would, but it’s still a great movie to watch. Just like in the movie, there is hope that you want to hold onto. You’ll see great bonding moments fluctuating with all the reasons Chad needs to leave. Everyone gives a great performance and there is no filler or lagging plot. This drama is definitely worth a watch.
