After its release in early June 2015, Jurassic World became the first movie in history to take more than $500m on its opening weekend at the global box office. Many critics praised the movie’s plot and casting, with box office analysts Rentrack also estimating that almost 50% of Jurassic World’s box office takings in the US came from 3D screenings alone, indicating that the prospect of a T-Rex jumping out from the screen in the movie theater played a big part in the film’s success.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the hotly anticipated follow up to Colin Trevorrow’s 2015 smash hit and is scheduled for release in the United States on June 22nd of next year. Whilst the details are still a little vague, we have been made aware of a few recent developments and so below is a brief summary of what you can expect when the T-Rex and his pals once again hit the big screen next Summer.
Bigger and Better Effects
Steven Spielberg’s original 1993 blockbuster holds a special place in the heart of most cinemagoers due to the fact that it set a new standard in terms of CGI and special effects. Fallen Kingdom promises to deliver more of the same in this regard – the dinosaurs are expected to be bigger and better than ever and with some 800 IMAX cinema theatres across the world, larger than life dinosaurs should once again prove to be a compelling draw.
Of course, a franchise as iconic as Jurassic Park goes far beyond cinema, and a large number of these effects have also been present in the many different video games based on the original film. These games include 2011 console title Jurassic Park: The Game. Next year also sees the release of Jurassic World: Evolution, a multiplatform game based on the 2015 hit Jurassic World which is sure to feature crisp, groundbreaking graphics.
Indeed, the altogether simpler world of online slots has been expanding and getting more and more sophisticated ever since the first machine hit the scene in 1887. Following the success of other major film titles including Termintor II, The Jurassic Park slot game was developed over at the 32Red slot machines page and features many cutting-edge visual features inspired directly from the film franchise itself. This far-reaching cultural influence of the franchise is typical of such a major film series.
More New ‘Friends’ To Look Forward To
Let’s face it, dinosaurs are the real stars of the show, and the original movie catapulted them into international stardom. Nowadays, you can’t move for dinosaurs across all popular culture, whether you’re playing Dinosaur Adventure at freeslots77 or see someone donning a T-Rex t-shirt, the Jurassic Park franchise has a lot to answer for when it comes to our newly rebooted appreciation of the 65 million-year-old beasts.
Eagle-eyed fans have allegedly spotted one of our favourite dinosaurs from the original movie on the set of Fallen Kingdom. Remember the curious looking creature who played an entertaining game of hide-and-seek with Dennis Nedry before drenching him with toxic fluid and feasting upon his corpse? That was a Dilophosaurus and the frilled fans favourite could well be returning to our screens next year.
The Same Inimitable Cast (Phew!)
Whilst there will no doubt be a few new additions (including a 9-year-old girl named Lucy who will apparently be one of the movie’s central characters), the majority of the cast appear to be reprising their roles for Fallen Kingdom, with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard once again starring as dinosaur trainer Owen Grady and former park chief Claire Dearing respectively.
Fans of the original film will also be happy to hear that Jeff Goldblum had decided to stay on as the much loved wise cracking Doctor Ian Malcom. Goldblum was a fans favorite upon the release of the original 1993 movie and can be seen and heard in many of the trademark Jurassic Park related video games over the years including the online slot game over at rightcasino.
One Thing’s For Sure – We Are Excited
Whilst there will undoubtedly be more details of the movie released as June 22nd draws ever closer, it feels like we have have been fed just enough information to successfully whet our appetites. Following the somewhat disappointing sequels that were released after the original Jurassic Park film, the success of Jurassic World has put Dinosaurs firmly back on the map and at the forefront of our minds.
In the time remaining until the release of Fallen Kingdom, you could do much worse than pay homage to where it all began by revisiting the original 1993 blockbuster. However, there are many ways to get back in the dinosaur loving mood and so whether it’s playing the 32red slot game or simply rewatching Chris Pratt’s iconic performance in Jurassic World, you’ll be ready for the action come June 22nd.
