Gravitas Ventures has announced the acquisition of worldwide VOD rights to Tribeca Spotlight Documentary Blurred Lines. The Barry Avrich-directed film breaks down controversial art world economics in a universe run seemingly without rules and regulations.
Granting unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to art industry players and candid statements from prominent artists like Damien Hirst, Julian Schnabel, Rashid Johnson, Michael Ovitz and Marina Abramovic, Blurred Lines peels back the layers of the art world economy- from production to circulation. It goes on to delineate every integral player in the game of art-making, including curators, gallerists, collectors, donors, auction houses, and, finally and arguably most important, the artists. In the process, Avrich unpacks the complex and surprising ecosystem that supports the art world superstars and million and billion-dollar deals that make front-page news.
“We are thrilled to have Gravitas represent the film and give audiences a backstage pass to a world you are not invited to,” stated Avrich.
Gravitas’ Director of Acquisitions Josh Spector shared: “Gravitas is excited to be bringing Barry Avrich’s film, both enlightening and educational, to a global audience of art lovers and art novices alike.”
