DVD Review: ‘The Originals: The Fifth And Final Season’

“Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.”

The final season of The Originals had it all. It was 13 episodes and each one was action packed. The story picked up years after the season four finale. The family is scattered due to the curse of the Hollow. Klaus is traveling around and keeping an eye on Elijah (who has no idea who he is and has fallen in love). Hope is at the Salavator school to learn her powers and wondering about when she might change into a werewolf. New Orleans is under a calm being led by Vincent and Josh. Marcelle is away with Rebecca.

But things are about to change. Hope is acting up at school and a revenge plan has been made. Klaus is tired of being on the run from the family and they are trying to find a way to due away with the curse. A major character is killed setting off a chain of events that could destroy the family once and for all with a heart-breaking ending.

The season moved along quickly with shocking things happening and as touching as the ending was I can’t say I was a fan of it but it did make sense. The good news is the world of the Mikaelsons is continuing with the new CW series this fall The Legacies.

You can pick this up in stores on Tuesday, October 9 on DVD & Digital.
