Book Review: ‘The Loyal One’ Is The Next Chapter Of The Walnut Creek Series

Author Shelley Shepard Gray is back with book two in her Walnut Series. The gang of 8 is back and celebrating something special and reminiscing about Andy and something that happened a few years ago. The story then moves forward and focuses on Katie Steury and Harley Lambright and their families this time.

Katie has gotten her family home and wants to renovate it into a B&B. She asks Harley to come by and offers him the job. Their relationship has been rocky for a few years because of Harley’s ex-girlfriend. But there’s always been something special between these two. Katie has a secret about the house. Her mother was a hoarder and it’s in really bad shape. Something she is embarrassed about and wants kept quiet.

Harley takes the job and brings along his younger brother Kyle. Together they start working on the place and soon the rest of the gang comes along to help. Harley and Katie are growing closer as the days go along. Kyle also has met a girl Gabby, who is not Amish but English. Kyle doesn’t care but Gabby’s mother does. They start to grow close as well.

As the house gets closer to being down the relationships of each of these couples will take turns and how they end up will be decided one way or the other.

Another fun Walnut Creek story. It has great characters that you root for and the setting of the Amish and English works good in these stories. They’re good books for the whole family to read.
