“Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.”
After years of trying we finally got a Black Lightning TV series. It premiered on The CW to positive reviews and joined with the rest of the DC Comics shows. Cress Williams was cast in the role and is perfect as the lead character of Jefferson Pierce (Black Lightning who can harness and control electricity).
Jefferson retired Black Lightning nine years ago after seeing how it effected his family. Now though with gang called The 100 causing trouble in Freeland, it’s time for him to return to the streets to try and clean up things. It starts when his youngest daughter Jennifer gets in trouble in a club and he’s forced to rescue her when his ex-wife says he can go back to being Black Lightning. As the season goes on it’s one battle after another with deaths, drugs and trying to figure out who is Black Lightning. It’s also a shock when his daughter Jennifer gets powers as well. And she may be the only way he survives and helps save the city.
The show fits in perfectly with the other DC Comics series and hopefully he will join in with the crossover events that are happening now each season.
You can pick up Black Lightning: The Complete First Season in stores on Tuesday, June 26.
